How painful is the actual epidural? Like the needle aspect of it- no one really talks about it, it seems terrifying and painful

was there when my wife had our 3 kids..held her hand for every birth seen her get cut so she wouldnt tear down there..seen the aftermath and the stitches being done and yet the absolute worse horrible thing i seen and wish i hadn't because i still think about it til this day was after giving birth i seen the dr remove the epidural catheter and it was crazzzzzzzzzy as hell
